ABOUT PTA
PTA is a national network of families, students, teachers, administrators, and business and community leaders committed to the educational success of children and the promotion of family engagement in schools. Everybody has a why. Our whys are the things that light us up and keep us moving forward. PTA's why is "to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children." At FBE, we do that in as many ways as we can, and we are always looking for more!
Over the course of a typical school year, the FBE PTA hosts events, raises funds, and participates in projects that directly support our school community. We host events like Back to School Night, trunk or treat, and the annual talent show for students and their families, and we provide support for teachers and school staff through Teacher Appreciation Weeks, securing community sponsors to help stock the staff lounge, and hosting staff luncheons and food trucks on campus. The PTA also facilitates multiple fundraisers both on campus at FBE and at locations throughout the community that raise money for various programs and initiatives that help enrich all of our students' learning experiences.
Anyone can join PTA, and there is always a place for you! Each PTA member brings something valuable to the table. Whether you are someone who likes to take on leadership roles, work as part of a committee or team, or work independently behind the scenes, we would love to meet you. PTA adds excitement and energy to the school year
by providing fun events and supplemental educational
opportunities.
Being a member has advantages:
- monthly newsletter
- resources for parenting in a modern world
- automatic membership for Texas and National PTA to advocate for all children
- an invitation (but no requirement) to volunteer
- and more!
PTA COMMITTEES
The operations committee handles all things related to PTA membership including running membership drives & also during legislative sessions helps organize PTA advocacy events.
The fundraising committees is in charge of all of the PTA's fundraising events from Spirit Nights to the Bobcat Bash in the spring.
The staff services committee leads the PTA's staff appreciation initiatives and also provides volunteer support to staff leading programs like the Tuesday Folders & Homeroom Parents.
The Academic Services committee runs the PTA academic programs for students and families like math penthatlon, STEAM night & Fine Arts Night.
The Family Services team runs the PTA programs that support family involvement like Talent Show, Yearbook & Healthy Lifestyles.
The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team runs PTA programs that focus on reaching out to all Fern Bluff families and promoting understanding & a sense of belonging for everyone in our school community.
